I was so ecstatic that I had found solutions to issues I had been having for years!! And the best part was that I was learning to be proactive with my health. This was big for me. My philosophy had been that you just went to the doctor when you didn't feel good, you got a pill and then you were better. And they were the doctors, so they obviously had to know what was best for you, right??
At this point I need to digress a bit in my story to even before I went to that class. I had a brother who was sick his entire life. At one point, he researched a lot about the way he ate. He got very into healthy eating. He removed processed foods completely from his diet and he juiced as well as he drank a tea that he ordered online. During that summer, he was the healthiest I had ever seen him. It truly was remarkable the difference what an individual eats to their overall health. I believe he would have continued had he been able to and had great health. I also need to tell you that he did not get his monthly treatments that pumped his body full of gammaglobulins. This is a treatment he'd been receiving since the 1980's that boosted his non-existent immune system. He was born that way. But like his life did, he got sick and they discovered he had developed hepatitis C from those blood treatments. So, the treatments they put him on made him so sick, that he physically could not make his own food. I became his medical advocate and I learned very quickly that the doctors did NOT know everything and you truly have to find your voice and ask questions! And then we began his slow spiral downward til he finally was taken home in 2008.
So even being a part of this, and taking care of my brother, I still didn't make those necessary changes to my eating habits until well into my journey. I share this because just having the knowledge is not enough!! It's also a very important part of who I am today. Going through the last several years with my brother made me second guess the medical community immensely. Please don't get me wrong, I absolutely believe there is a necessity for modern medicine. I just learned to ask a lot of questions and know that I had choices and I could absolutley say NO.
So what finally clicked in for me? Research!! And more research. Seeing results from people all around me! Learning about the gut being the second brain, how it supports not only our immune system but also our emotions! I knew I needed better nutrition, and I did start taking supplements, and a lot of them. But as I continued, I knew I didn't start this healthy journey just to take more "pills". Stay tuned to the next episode as I go into more of what I tried!
As we discuss recharging our bodies, I have to tell you that using these two essential oils have been a lifesaver for my adrenals!! I find nutmeg to irritate my skin on it's own, so I use a bit of coconut oil. Apply 1-2 drops of NUTMEG over adrenals (found on mid back just about an inch on either side of your spine) first thing in the morning. I then apply a drop of ENDOFLEX over my thyroid and a drop or two over my adrenals as well! Check out the picture below. The adrenal glands are the yellow on top of the kidneys.
